Bluestone Alley Condos

The development at 7 Crombie Street was designed to reuse the historic church as affordable Artist Live/Work housing. The ambition for the project was multi-fold in that it provides housing at a price point lower than what the Salem downtown marketplace offers. It also provided impetus to enhance the artistic community in Salem for cultural and economic benefit. Retaining most of the existing church, Bluestone Alley also featured unique sustainable enhancements including energy star appliances, a tight envelope, and green finishes and materials for a healthy and efficient home.

The individual condominiums are designed to provide flexible open space with large volumes needed for a variety of artistic media and formats. Common areas for art displays were provided in some existing spaces that lend themselves to the gallery function; these common spaces are an amenity that is shared by the community living at Bluestone Alley.
