Paul Durand is a founding principal of Winter Street Architects where he leads the firm’s vision to provide high quality designs that make a client’s business better. He is an adventurer: climbing frozen waterfalls, making first assents on unclimbed routes and scaling high peaks.  Paul takes his adventurous spirit to the workplace; leading the industry frontier with tools and methods that revolutionize the way things are done to benefit the firm’s clients.  He was quick to realize that Building Information Modeling and Integrated Project Delivery would greatly improve how architects, design consultants and constructors work together to provide a better product at a reduced cost.

When Paul isn’t slaying dragons he leads his firm’s Public Safety work providing communities with state-of-the-art fire and police facilities that support the noble mission of preserving life and property. He also supports corporate interior design projects where he brings his business acumen together with an understanding of people in the workplace to create better, more productive office environments.  Paul applied this design approach to Winter Street Architects’ own headquarters in Salem, Massachusetts, which features the firm’s a central symbol of adventure – the famed climbing wall.   

Mark Meche is a founder of Winter Street Architects, where he holds the award for being the design firm’s Principal Architect since 1987. As the leader of the firm’s technology integration practice, Mark has been a key change agent for innovation within the firm. He created the early adoption of innovative design technologies, BIM, and unified project delivery. 

He sees a parallel between the adaptability of the team to the client’s problem, and the nimble integration of technology into design solutions, processes, and project delivery. “I am always eager to try new things, I think it is essential to remain critical, quickly adopting technologies that lift us up and rejecting those that weigh us down.” Mark leads the design and management of Winter Street Architects projects in North America, Europe, and Asia. His career includes extensive experience in corporate, residential, municipal, manufacturing, and technology-related design.

Dana graduated with a degree in art history from Williams College and continued his education to gain his master of architecture from Rice University. As an architect and designer for over 25 years, his experience ranges from high-rise multi-use construction, furniture design, boat design, and construction. He brings his interest in regionally focused and sustainable design to every project. Dana collaborates with the client to translate project needs into a design vision that will create a well-executed finished product. He is a strong proponent of Winter Street Architects’ promise of involvement during all project phases.
